Latest Obsessions Based on Senses

My summer vacation has begun and I am here now … and hopefully, I will be updating my blog more frequently now 💪  I want to share with you some of my latest (Mid April-May) obsessions based on the 5 senses and hopefully we will obsess over them together!

✋🏼 Touch ✋🏼

IMG_1339.JPG

I love this PJ top it is so soft, summery and cute!! 💕 I also bought the matching shorts and they have ruffles on them, which is adorable. However, it is really hard to take a picture of shorts if they are not laid flatly 😅

👃🏼 Smell👃🏼

IMG_1344.JPG

I am so in love with this candle by Meraki Candles. It was included in the Fairyloot box, so sadly, it is not for sale 😭. The scent of sweet candy floss and marshmallow is well balanced by the mint scent so it is not sickly sweet and the mint is not overwhelming at all. I totally recommend you check out Meraki Candles shop and you can use my code HAYA10 to get 10% off your order‼️

👀 Sight 👀

So I have been in a huge reading slump lately and if you are wondering why? It is because of this TV show. I was craving a solid GOOD tv show and I tried different TV shows, Anime and Korean Dramas but nothing was good enough till I started Cesur ve Güzel which is a Turkish TV drama (It is the first time I properly watch a Turkish TV show) and it is so good 😍 The romance in it is .. perfect, and that is coming from a person who watched/read a lot of romance movies/books. It is not ALL about romance though, like there is an actual interesting plot that is packed with action, the subplots are also very interesting! Overall I totally recommend that you check out the first episode (Although the beginning is slightly cheesy but keeeeep on watching) 📺. Plus the main actor is the definition of a Turkish Delight ♥️

👅 Taste 👅

IMG_1342.JPG

I love Earl Grey tea and that is a fact ☕️ and I’m really getting into green tea a lot lately, so I knew instantly the moment that I saw this tea that I need to get it and get it I did. It is from Marks and Spencer and I can’t find a link to it, I am so sorry 💔 . It tastes SO good, I am so hooked! And I had to show off my Moriar Tea mug from Temporary Places.

👂🏼 Sound👂🏼

I love to have a certain song for each summer and this summer Drift by Alina Baraz & Galimatias is a current favorite 🎼 I just like listening to it at the beach 🌊

That’s folks, I really hope you enjoyed this brief post. If you do end up obsessing with any of the things that are mentioned above, then hit me up on Instagram so we could gush about everything for hours 💓

Comment the things that you are currently obsessed with!! I seriously would love to know

Summer Books Recommendations ☀

Many people ask me to recommend books for them and to be honest that freaks me out because I KNOW that each one of us has a different taste in books and the fact that you might not like the book i recommended to you is scary. However, I won’t let that stop me from raving about my favorite summer books and in the end you can always pick whatever suits your taste. YOU SHOULD STILL DOWNLOAD/READ A SAMPLE BEFORE PURCHASING ANY BOOK just to see if it’s something worth buying.

Summer days are long and hot so fun, fast paced and cute books are the best type of books to take with you to the beach, swimming pool or even if you’re staying at home 👙🌊

🐠 SUMMER SERIES 🐠

IMG_2926

  • The Summer I Turned Pretty series by jenny Han is a page turner that’s filled with emotions and adorableness. I read this series a very long while ago and then i reread it a year ago and i still felt the same way about it and i couldn’t put it down even though i already knew what’s going to happen.
  • Airhead series by Meg Cabot so this is not particularly a summerish series but it’s fun and creative. If you have read any of Meg Cabot books then you must definitely want to read this. Meg Cabot books are funny, cute and very easy to read. If you’re new to reading and you want something that will help you enjoy reading more then check this out.
  • Whispering Pines series by Jen Calonita consist of two books that are not really connected, like it wouldn’t matter that much if you didn’t read Sleepaway Girls to read Summer State of Mind but the are some characters that shows up in both books and I’m sure if you start one of them then you want to read the other but do start with Sleepaway Girls. These books are really fun and they’re about camping and meeting new people. It’s a Middle Grade/Young Adult series so it’s another easy read that’s totally cute.
  • Belles series which is also by Jen Calonita has the rags to riches Cinderella kind of story and it’s very interesting especially if you like stories like that and it’s all about the high-school drama and trying to fit in but it’s very delightful and it’s filled with cute moments. It also reminds me of Korean Tv drama so if you like Korean Tv dramas then check this out!
  • Broken Hearts & Revenge series by Katie Finn (pen name for Morgan Matson) is the ultimate summer series and it’s all about revenge. There’s a lot of high-school/backstabbing drama that will have you sitting at the edge of your seat and trust me when i say you will not be able to put this series down.

🐚 SUMMER STAND-ALONE 🐚

IMG_2925.JPG

  • Rules of Summer by Joanna Philbin is actually a series but i only read the first book and i was satisfied with how everything ended so i didn’t feel any need to read the second book. This book is about two girls with a very different lifestyle that go through a lot but at a certain point their lives collide and you get to experience both lifestyles and that’s really interesting.
  • The DUFF by Kody Keplinger is so good! it’s really fun and it’s really hard to put down because once you start it you want to finish it. It’s not exactly a summery book but i did read it in summer and that’s why i felt the need to add it to this pile.
  • Morgan Matson is an amazing author and Since You’ve Been Gone is one of the best books that i have read by her. Don’t be fooled by the title because i thought that it was going to be one of those books that will get me depressed but it was absolutely fun. It’s all about breaking out of your shell and trying out new and different things. It’s light but also deep… it’s perfectly balanced and It will make you laugh, tear up and smile.
  • One Of The Guys by Lisa Aldin is totally underrated. So it’s about a tomboy girl who does something extremely stupid and get her self in an all girls school, having to wear a skirt and act like lady was pretty tough for her but she ends up starting this “new” business where she hire her male best friends as dates to her fellow female classmates and it’s absolutely fun until she realizes that the most sought-after guy that she’s hiring is the one that she might actually be in love with. It’s one of those fun summer books that you finish in one sitting and yeah it’s a bit cliché and cheesy but in the most delightful way.
  • Better off Friends by Elizabeth Eulberg will turn you into a puddle, that’s how cute this book is. It’s all about friendship and love. It’s an easy, light and fun book to read when you’re in a reading slump or you simply want a fun, fast-paced book to read after finishing off a huge fantasy/sci-fi book.
  • Kasie West is probably the queen of Contemporary books because i absolutely loved all of her contemporary books and I’m dying to get the one she’s releasing soon! So you have got On the fence, The Distance Between Us and The Fill-in Boyfriend each one of them has a different story and different characters. However, they’re all set in the same world and some of the side characters show up in more than one book.
  • My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick is a beautiful summery book that talks about friendship, love and being honest. The fictional male character is very swoon worthy and I’m sure you will have a major crush on him. The story is beautiful and touching and there are many cute and funny moments that you will adore.
  • The Siren by Kiera Cass is a unique story that talks about the ocean and the sirens. It’s worth reading especially if you love new, different and unique stories. It’s not a fun, light book because you see people struggle in this book but there are many cute moments and it’s a gripping story that you won’t forget easily.
  • I read Roomies by Lindy Zart last year in summer and boy was i obsessed! it was totally adorable and funny. If you love love-triangles then this book is for you. This book will turn you heart into mush from all the cute moments that are in it.

Talking about all of those books make me feel a bit nostalgic and i honestly think that i need to reread many of those books! i hope that you find this post useful and you enjoy my recommendations

Bookhaul!

So many people ask me from where i get my books, i usually order them online from Amazon because bookstores in my country don’t really receive any new releases and book depository doesn’t deliver.

Ordering Books from Amazon is easy but it can be a bit pricey if you’re paying for international shipping but it all depends on the speed of delivery you’re choosing.

I just got my first shipment today and i wanted to show you all what i got

I didn’t get any new April releases yet because they get released on the 5th of April so what i got mostly consist of books that i am really interested in.

  • Rebel Spring by Morgan Rhodes.
  • Gathering Darkness by Morgan Rhodes (Sadly i ordered that in paperback instead of Hardcover 😢).
  • Frozen Tides by Morgan Rhodes.
  • A Book of Spirits and Thieves by Morgan Rhodes.
  • Wink Poppy Midnight by April Genevieve Tucholke.
  • Burning Glass by Kathryn Purdie.
  • A Darker Shade of Magic by Victoria Schwab.
  • A Gathering of Shadows by Victoria Schwab.
  • The Winner’s Kiss by Marie Rutkoski.

I also got another book that was SUPPOSED to be shipped with them, however it was in another tiny box and i don’t even know why but at least they both arrived at the same time.

  • Map of Fates by Maggie Hall.

I’m really pleased with what i got and i didn’t over do it this time .. at least not much.

Eggs in a Nest Cupcakes

So around this time of the year i get in my “Baker” spirit and I’ve been seeing lots of different types of cupcakes but i settled on making something similar to those cupcakes, the recipe was easy and the results were delicious so i thought I’d share it with you guys.

Theres also a video on how to make those, just click here!

Ingredients for the cupcakes:

  •  429g all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 375ml of milk
  • 125ml vegetable oil
  • 125g softened unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp greek yoghurt ( you can use sour cream instead)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • Chocolate eggs to put in the cupcake
  • Yellow food coloring

Ingredients for the buttercream frosting:

  • 500g softened unsalted butter
  • 1020g soft icing sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Green food coloring

Things you need for decorating:

  • Colored chocolate eggs
  • Shaved Dark chocolate

First thing you need to do is preheat your oven. Then add all of your cupcake dry ingredients and mix it for a couple of minutes. Afterward add your softened butter to the mixture and mix it till you get a crumbly sand-like texture.

In a measuring cup (or bowl) add all of your cupcake wet ingredients and whisk them together. Then pour in your wet ingredients into the dry ingredients in a slow steady stream and beat it till everything is fully combined.

Fill in your cupcake liners with a scoop full of the batter then add in your chocolate eggs and bake it in the oven for about 20-25 minutes. After it’s done baking let the cupcakes cool on a cooling rack.

Pipe your frosting in a swirl like motion and then sprinkle your chocolate shaving. Finally place 3 of your chocolate eggs in the center of the cupcake.

To Make the frosting:

You need to mix the butter in a mixing bowl till it’s fluffy and pale. Pour in half of your icing sugar and mix it with the butter until it’s fully mixed then add in the rest of your icing sugar with the milk and vanilla. You can also add in your food coloring while it’s mixing or after .. it’s really up to you.

How to Make Old Faded Papers

I love to have a theme when I’m taking a picture and i love historical things so i really enjoy taking historical themed pictures. Now when you are taking a historical themed picture old faded papers add something to it and I’m going to teach you how to make old-looking-faded-papers .

IMG_1031 2.JPG

The things that you will need are:

  • Papers .. any type of papers that you want
  • Instant Coffee
  • Hot Water
  • Paper Towels
  • Baking Tray
  • Lighter (optional)

FullSizeRender 24 FullSizeRender 21.jpg

First thing you need to do is to add your instant coffee to the hot water, you don’t need any kind of measurement for this and you can also use your “leftover” coffee and get the same result. The reason you need to use hot water is because you want the coffee crystals to completely dissolve but you can also use a bit of hot water and then add some cool water afterward if you’re afraid of burning yourself. Don’t forget to save some of your instant coffee crystals for later.

FullSizeRender 22.jpgDSC_0149.JPG

The next step is to dip your paper towel in the coffee and then dap the paper. This process can take a while because you need to drench the paper completely and you also need to let out any air bubbles that formed underneath the paper by pressing on those with the paper towel you’re using or simply by using your fingers.

FullSizeRender 23.jpg

This is what your papers are going to like after finishing the second step.

DSC_0153.JPGDSC_0154.JPG

Now you add the rest of your coffee crystals randomly on top of your paper and press on it with you paper towel so those crystals would also dissolve. The reason why i do this is to give the paper some dark spots that old papers usually have. This step is actually optional but i really like the way the papers turn out after doing this step.

DSC_0155.JPG

As you can see i didn’t really melt all of the coffee crystals because honestly i didn’t have the time to do that and they turned out fine… i think.

DSC_0156.JPG

Afterwards, you put the papers in the oven on low heat for about 6-7 minutes. Some ovens work faster and some work slower but you can always know that your papers are done when they are completely dry.

DSC_0157.JPG and BAAAAAAAAAAM you have your old looking papers.

DSC_0158.JPGDSC_0160.JPG

Now if you’re going all out on this one, you might as well start burning parts of the paper. Please be careful while doing that, I’m sure firefighters wouldn’t be pleased with the fact that you burned the whole house down because you’re making “old faded papers”.

DSC_0159.JPG

So i wanted to darken a spot in the middle of the paper and i ended up burning the a large portion of this paper 😂 Just don’t do that and learn from my mistake.

FullSizeRender 25.jpg

And that’s the final result 📜 I hope that you guys enjoy that and if you ever make one of those papers just let me know because I’m dying to see how yours turn out!
