The Sirens by Kiera Cass
“Kahlen is a Siren, bound to serve the Ocean by luring humans to watery graves with her voice, which is deadly to any human who hears it. Akinli is human—a kind, handsome boy who’s everything Kahlen ever dreamed of. Falling in love puts them both in danger . . . but Kahlen can’t bear to stay away. Will she risk everything to follow her heart?”
So this story is about Sirens, I didn’t know what Sirens are before I started this book but this book explains it so well although at the beginning I kept on imagining them as mermaids and they’re similar in some way but the more you know about them the more you realize they don’t. It’s a tempting dreadful bound so this book is emotional, specially after Khalen fell in love with a guy. The groundwork is laid out so well but I kept on having questions 🤔 I really enjoyed reading it and it’s one of those “You have to finish me in one setting” books because the chapters are divided so well and the book is exciting ♥️.
⚠️ Spoiler Alert ⚠️ So I really loved the concept of this story specially since I love Greek mythology and I loved the ocean. The ocean is the most complex thing in this book, you can’t hate her and you can’t love her and her bound with the girls is just amazing to read about. The love story between Kahlen and Akinli is cute and sweet but I couldn’t feel the depth of it, I felt like Kahlen didn’t really explain what she sees in Akinli that made him the “one”. What if another guy came in and did what he did will he also be the “one”? Although I really love Akinli and his man bun 😚 The sisterhood is also beautiful, the way they take care of each other and look out for one another is heartwarming 🌊
Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austin
You know the whole time I was reading this book I kept on thinking about how it was released like almost 200 years ago and how many generations have read it and that made the whole experience more fascinating. Now let’s talk about the story, as many of you know that this story is about the 5 Bennett girls who have different characters, hobbies and looks and they’re all out in “season” that means they’re all willing to get married from the youngest who’s 15 to the oldest who I think is 24 but that’s not actually the whole purpose of the story. This book mainly follows this awesome character called Elizabeth and I’m not going to get into more details because I’ll probably spoil the whole thing 🎩 I need myself a Mr. Darcy because he’s the perfect gentlemen and I really loved Jane so much although most people are in love with Lizzie, I just feel like I understand Jane more although Lizzie is a very strong and smart character 📖 after finishing the book I immediately watched the movie and I fell in love with it ❤️ I watched it years ago but I didn’t get a thing and I don’t even think that I watched the whole movie but now I’m just obsessed with how amazing and perfect everything is in this movie 📽 can we just talk about how President snow is Mr. Bennet? And what’s even more shocking is that Johanna is actually Lydia
Assassin’s Heart by Sarah Ahiers
In a Kingdom called Lovero it’s okay to be an assassin. In fact, there are 9 families of assassins living there and u can hire any member of them to kill for you. It’s not as monstrous as it sounds because there’s a story behind why they do it and there are laws that restrict them from going too far. In a life like that rivalry doesn’t have any boundaries so when our main 17 years old heroine wakes up and find her house in flames and her family members murdered we can only blame one other family and that’s the Da Vias. How did our main heroine not see this coming you’re all wondering, well because she’s too busy smooching the Da Vias son who’s one fine piece of a man. But now it’s time for the Da Vias to pay back for what they did
There’s a deep meaning behind this story and I actually miss that, many authors are too focused on creating a story to the point where they forget to add morals to it 🙄 anyway this book is really interesting and the love story in it will turn you into putty ❤️ I kept on imagining and thinking about how would my family function if we were all assassins .. That’d be really interesting
Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard
There isn’t much to say without spoiling the book specially since it’s the second book of the series 😶 but I got into this book thinking that it’ll take me 5 days to finish it because let’s face it I was all happy and giddy about her being turned into a princess and living in a palace with two gorgeous princes and I’m not ready to face a rebellion or whatever Mare intends to do in Glass Sword but boy was I proven wrong .. I finished the book the in 2 days and I got so into it that I could have even finished it earlier because it was exciting and gripping.
Now ⚠️ Spoiler Alert ⚠️ lets talk more about this book … At the beginning I didn’t understand why Mare is fighting what she feels toward Cal because he’s lonely right now and he needs her yet she’s like “No distractions whatsoever” it might be a distraction to u but I feel like it’s something els to Cal 🙄 we have many new characters that are introduced in this book and we got to know more about some characters like Shade, he’s such a good brother and he’s always looking out for Mare and I really liked him but his character starts drifting away after a couple of chapters and next thing you know he’s dead .. It was sad but a part of me saw it coming, it was either Shade or Kilron ⚔ I loved the newbloods like I was excited to know more about them and to see what they can do and then Cameron shows up and she’s being so annoying to the point where Mare was like Bitch I’ll show u what I can do and I’m like MARE THIS IS EXACTLY HOW I FEEL ABOUT YOU THROUGH THIS WHOLE BOOK because she’s so whiny and annoying and I understand that she “can’t” trust anybody but she’s CHOOSING not to trust anybody specially that many of them have proven that they’re trustworthy! She hates Maven but she loves Maven .. That is actually confusing because I didn’t feel like she actually loved Maven in the first book to begin with, he was like someone who she pitied and I don’t know but I feel like it was pretty clear that Cal is the one who she loves and in this book I’m not so sure about that but in the end she’s like I want to tell Cal that I love him and that I need him and she’s just a pain in the butt. Many of the action parts were not explained fully like one minute the queen is alive and the next minute she isn’t and the whole let’s film a clip telling everybody that the queen is dead part is just like reading Mockingjay all over again but overall it was better than I expected and I honestly enjoyed the whole cat and mouse chase between her and Maven ✨ don’t ask me who’s ship I’m on because I honestly don’t know although I’m leaning toward Maven now simply because he’s evil.
Which team are you on? Team Cal or Team Maven?
November 9 by Colleen Hoover
Fallon O’Neil had the life that most people envy but on November 9 two years ago something happened that changed her life forever to the worse so basically November 9 is a day that Fallon hates until she meets an aspiring novelist who’s called Ben and darn he’s cute (just putting it out there) Ben and Fallon spend some time together on November 9 but sadly they don’t get as much as time as they wish they could because Fallon has decided to move from L.A. To NYC to start a new life and to follow her dreams. The attraction between Ben and Fallon is undeniable but Fallon intends to follow an advice her mother gave her so they decided to meet on November 9 for the next 6 years and Ben thinks that their story would make a good book.
As a reader you follow their meet ups throughout those years and you learn more about them but at a certain point the lines between Fiction and Reality start to blur together to our main characters and that unravels some secrets that changes everything.
So after finishing this book I felt like my heart was broken and then stitched back together and then torn apart and then taped, I kept on smiling and laughing and crying throughout this book because the emotions in this book are just so raw and beautiful. This book truly is a work of art and I never knew that words could be that beautiful ❤️ I honestly was scared to start this book so I was like I’ll just read a page or two and suddenly I’m 100 page in and ITS LIKE CRACK (you see what I did there?) but honestly I couldn’t put the book down until I finished it ⚠️ Spoiler Alert
Do not read this if you haven’t finished the book yet, I’m warning you! So i really really really loved Ben, he’s just so amazing and I love Fallon and her sassiness. When Ian showed up I was like wait what? Isn’t he in ugly love?? And then Tate and miles show up and I just wanted to cry because this is what Colleen Hoover make me do, just cry and laugh and look like a crazy person. I loved how we get to see another side of her father and that just gave me some relief. I was expecting something to happen to Kyle but it still effected me although at the beginning we don’t know much about him at all but I can’t help loving him and I also saw the thing between Jordan and Ben coming but I was surprised that it didn’t last that long at all. Now what I was not expecting at all is what Fallon found out toward the end and that was a huge blow and the way she was scared of him was just so heart breaking and then knowing the actual story just destroyed my tiny fragile heart because I’m sure his mom would have loved Fallon. I just want more, I want another book about them 💔 and I want a book about Ian!
The Shadow Queen by C. J. Redwine
So The Shadow Queen is a Fairy Tale retelling of Snow White .. And quiet frankly I loved it more than the original story because instead of having the chocking hazard princess (No offense to Snow White!) we get this kick ass princess who’s like a mini Aelin and she can kick some series butts and we also get a dragon prince and a really really mean evil queen. Things in this book are more intense specially with all of those fantasy creatures and elements, and things are not predictable at all so you’re definitely in it for a couple of surprises. This book was a mixture of Snow White and the huntsman and Throne of glass series in a way and the whole dragon thing reminded me of game of thrones. I loved the way it ended to the point where I don’t think that I’ll be reading the second book because the ending was so satisfying for me but I know I’ll probably get the second book and read it because I’ll be very tempted 🙊 there is nothing significant that I disliked about it but throughout this book my attention kept wandering around so I had to reread a couple of things but I think that’s due to the fact that I have a lot on mind because honestly this book was exciting and there were a lot of things happening in it
Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier
Since I’m a blabber mouth I’m copying the description of the book from goodreads because it has just the right amount of informations .. So here you go “Sixteen-year-old Gwen lives with her extended – and rather eccentric – family in an exclusive London neighborhood. In spite of her ancestors’ peculiar history, she’s had a relatively normal life so far. The time-traveling gene that runs like a secret thread through the female half of the family is supposed to have skipped over Gwen, so she hasn’t been introduced to “the mysteries,” and can spend her time hanging out with her best friend, Lesly. It comes as an unwelcome surprise when she starts taking sudden, uncontrolled leaps into the past.
She’s totally unprepared for time travel, not to mention all that comes with it: fancy clothes, archaic manners, a mysterious secret society, and Gideon, her time-traveling counterpart. He’s obnoxious, a know-it-all, and possibly the best-looking guy she’s seen in any centrury . . ” So our main heroine Gwen has a very normal life although she knows that a “time traveling” gene is in her family but other than that she’s absolutely ordinary until she suddenly leaps into a different era and from there things go a little bit crazy ✨ the reason why I loved this book so much is because YA novels changed a lot in the past couple of years, the stories are more complicated and the characters are so complex .. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing but sometimes you just miss the old simple stories and this series delivers that. Ruby Red is a fun, Adventurous book that talks about time travel and it lays out the groundwork so well for a first book. I like that the main character doesn’t know much so we are learning as she’s learning and we are discovering new things together. The characters are amazing, we have fun ones and we have dark mysterious characters but overall I loved the way that the characters were described and I loved the details in this book. Now shall we talk about my new fictional male crush?
