My Reading Nook ✨

Some of you might be wondering what’s a “reading nook”? For me, a reading nook is a place in your room (or house) that you specifically read in. I know most of you are like BUT I READ ON MY BED well so do i but i also have a reading nook because every reader needs a place where your mind kinda registers that you have to sit your ass down and read.

I know some rooms are smaller than others and you really don’t have to go all out when you’re creating your reading nook, you can simply put a comfy chair in front of your bookcase and BAAM you got your self a reading nook.I’m going to show you my reading nook and the items that are in it and from where i got everything and hopefully that will inspire you to create your very own reading nook where you get to finish many books 📚

IMG_5874

My reading nook consists of a sofa, table, pillows, lamp and a clock. I rarely ever show the clock in my pictures although it’s one of my favorite things in my room. I got the sticker from Ikea (I looked for a link but i don’t think it’s available anymore!) and a vintage fair clock that is super cute and i kinda love it because it reminds me of The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern 🎪 My floor lamp is also from Ikea and it matches my old nightstand lamp and ceiling lights.

The size of this sofa is perfect because it doesn’t take that much space yet it’s comfy and big enough for you to lie down on it. That’s not all, it’s also a sofa bed!! The two pillows at the back are from ikea as well (no surprise there, lol). “I Read Past My Bedtime” & “The World Belongs to Those Who Read” pillows are from Bookwormboutique store in Society6, and there’s absolutely nothing like bookish pillows to make your reading nook comfy and cute and Lauren has one of the best designs ever. The Throw is from Pottery Barn and it’s really cozy and warm .. plus the knitting is gorgeous.

If this table had a mouth it wouldn’t stop complaining and whining about all of the stuff that i pile on it 😂 You can clearly see that I’m not the most organized person on earth (I try my best) and i tend to stuff random bits and bobs on that shelf but this table is great, the size fits the sofa perfectly and i use the surface of this table as a backdrop for my pictures.

IMG_5870

I usually change the items on my table depending on the season and as you can see I’m pretty excited for Fall 🍂 This table is where i place my bookmark or cup of tea while reading. This round wooden plate like thing is from ikea.

IMG_5861

Inside it i have my planner, pen, candle and some baby breath and fairy-lights placed in a mason jar.

IMG_5864.JPG

You thought I’d miss out on the chance of talking about my planner? that aint happenin. So i started wanting a planner around March and then i was like “Uhh it’s too late already” and then in July i went to Scotland and i visited a paperchase shop and i found this awesome planner. So it’s a 2016/2017 planner that starts from the last week of June 2016 and ends around the same time on 2017 .. so if you thought it’s too late to get a planner then you’re wrong! it’s pretty awesome from the inside too and i love it 💛.

IMG_5859.JPG

In case you’re wondering what’s the candle that is in the round wooden plate thingy, it’s “Brave Wizards” from FrostBeard .. It smells AMAZING! and i had to show some house pride because Gryffindors are the best 🦁

IMG_5862.JPG

Since we already talking about Harry Potter i thought that i could show-off this amazing sticker that i got from the Nerdy Post June box!

IMG_5866.JPG

I love this mug! It’s adorable and it makes life much easier for me because with this mug i don’t have to get up and throw the tea bag away after it brewed whilst I’m reading .. i can simply put the tea bag in the compartment that is in the front! Amazing, I know. Plus who can say no to a cute cat mug?

IMG_5865.JPG

You might have noticed a box that’s filled with books and it’s pushed against the farthest wall in my reading nook .. This is my box of shame AKA the box that is filled with my TBR books, at least it’s not a bookcase anymore 🙊

I hope that this blog post has helped you in case you were thinking about creating a reading nook or simply if you’re looking for cute/bookish things ❤️  I have a question: Where do you do most of your reading?

Summer Books Recommendations ☀

Many people ask me to recommend books for them and to be honest that freaks me out because I KNOW that each one of us has a different taste in books and the fact that you might not like the book i recommended to you is scary. However, I won’t let that stop me from raving about my favorite summer books and in the end you can always pick whatever suits your taste. YOU SHOULD STILL DOWNLOAD/READ A SAMPLE BEFORE PURCHASING ANY BOOK just to see if it’s something worth buying.

Summer days are long and hot so fun, fast paced and cute books are the best type of books to take with you to the beach, swimming pool or even if you’re staying at home 👙🌊

🐠 SUMMER SERIES 🐠

IMG_2926

  • The Summer I Turned Pretty series by jenny Han is a page turner that’s filled with emotions and adorableness. I read this series a very long while ago and then i reread it a year ago and i still felt the same way about it and i couldn’t put it down even though i already knew what’s going to happen.
  • Airhead series by Meg Cabot so this is not particularly a summerish series but it’s fun and creative. If you have read any of Meg Cabot books then you must definitely want to read this. Meg Cabot books are funny, cute and very easy to read. If you’re new to reading and you want something that will help you enjoy reading more then check this out.
  • Whispering Pines series by Jen Calonita consist of two books that are not really connected, like it wouldn’t matter that much if you didn’t read Sleepaway Girls to read Summer State of Mind but the are some characters that shows up in both books and I’m sure if you start one of them then you want to read the other but do start with Sleepaway Girls. These books are really fun and they’re about camping and meeting new people. It’s a Middle Grade/Young Adult series so it’s another easy read that’s totally cute.
  • Belles series which is also by Jen Calonita has the rags to riches Cinderella kind of story and it’s very interesting especially if you like stories like that and it’s all about the high-school drama and trying to fit in but it’s very delightful and it’s filled with cute moments. It also reminds me of Korean Tv drama so if you like Korean Tv dramas then check this out!
  • Broken Hearts & Revenge series by Katie Finn (pen name for Morgan Matson) is the ultimate summer series and it’s all about revenge. There’s a lot of high-school/backstabbing drama that will have you sitting at the edge of your seat and trust me when i say you will not be able to put this series down.

🐚 SUMMER STAND-ALONE 🐚

IMG_2925.JPG

  • Rules of Summer by Joanna Philbin is actually a series but i only read the first book and i was satisfied with how everything ended so i didn’t feel any need to read the second book. This book is about two girls with a very different lifestyle that go through a lot but at a certain point their lives collide and you get to experience both lifestyles and that’s really interesting.
  • The DUFF by Kody Keplinger is so good! it’s really fun and it’s really hard to put down because once you start it you want to finish it. It’s not exactly a summery book but i did read it in summer and that’s why i felt the need to add it to this pile.
  • Morgan Matson is an amazing author and Since You’ve Been Gone is one of the best books that i have read by her. Don’t be fooled by the title because i thought that it was going to be one of those books that will get me depressed but it was absolutely fun. It’s all about breaking out of your shell and trying out new and different things. It’s light but also deep… it’s perfectly balanced and It will make you laugh, tear up and smile.
  • One Of The Guys by Lisa Aldin is totally underrated. So it’s about a tomboy girl who does something extremely stupid and get her self in an all girls school, having to wear a skirt and act like lady was pretty tough for her but she ends up starting this “new” business where she hire her male best friends as dates to her fellow female classmates and it’s absolutely fun until she realizes that the most sought-after guy that she’s hiring is the one that she might actually be in love with. It’s one of those fun summer books that you finish in one sitting and yeah it’s a bit cliché and cheesy but in the most delightful way.
  • Better off Friends by Elizabeth Eulberg will turn you into a puddle, that’s how cute this book is. It’s all about friendship and love. It’s an easy, light and fun book to read when you’re in a reading slump or you simply want a fun, fast-paced book to read after finishing off a huge fantasy/sci-fi book.
  • Kasie West is probably the queen of Contemporary books because i absolutely loved all of her contemporary books and I’m dying to get the one she’s releasing soon! So you have got On the fence, The Distance Between Us and The Fill-in Boyfriend each one of them has a different story and different characters. However, they’re all set in the same world and some of the side characters show up in more than one book.
  • My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick is a beautiful summery book that talks about friendship, love and being honest. The fictional male character is very swoon worthy and I’m sure you will have a major crush on him. The story is beautiful and touching and there are many cute and funny moments that you will adore.
  • The Siren by Kiera Cass is a unique story that talks about the ocean and the sirens. It’s worth reading especially if you love new, different and unique stories. It’s not a fun, light book because you see people struggle in this book but there are many cute moments and it’s a gripping story that you won’t forget easily.
  • I read Roomies by Lindy Zart last year in summer and boy was i obsessed! it was totally adorable and funny. If you love love-triangles then this book is for you. This book will turn you heart into mush from all the cute moments that are in it.

Talking about all of those books make me feel a bit nostalgic and i honestly think that i need to reread many of those books! i hope that you find this post useful and you enjoy my recommendations

How to Make Old Faded Papers

I love to have a theme when I’m taking a picture and i love historical things so i really enjoy taking historical themed pictures. Now when you are taking a historical themed picture old faded papers add something to it and I’m going to teach you how to make old-looking-faded-papers .

IMG_1031 2.JPG

The things that you will need are:

  • Papers .. any type of papers that you want
  • Instant Coffee
  • Hot Water
  • Paper Towels
  • Baking Tray
  • Lighter (optional)

FullSizeRender 24 FullSizeRender 21.jpg

First thing you need to do is to add your instant coffee to the hot water, you don’t need any kind of measurement for this and you can also use your “leftover” coffee and get the same result. The reason you need to use hot water is because you want the coffee crystals to completely dissolve but you can also use a bit of hot water and then add some cool water afterward if you’re afraid of burning yourself. Don’t forget to save some of your instant coffee crystals for later.

FullSizeRender 22.jpgDSC_0149.JPG

The next step is to dip your paper towel in the coffee and then dap the paper. This process can take a while because you need to drench the paper completely and you also need to let out any air bubbles that formed underneath the paper by pressing on those with the paper towel you’re using or simply by using your fingers.

FullSizeRender 23.jpg

This is what your papers are going to like after finishing the second step.

DSC_0153.JPGDSC_0154.JPG

Now you add the rest of your coffee crystals randomly on top of your paper and press on it with you paper towel so those crystals would also dissolve. The reason why i do this is to give the paper some dark spots that old papers usually have. This step is actually optional but i really like the way the papers turn out after doing this step.

DSC_0155.JPG

As you can see i didn’t really melt all of the coffee crystals because honestly i didn’t have the time to do that and they turned out fine… i think.

DSC_0156.JPG

Afterwards, you put the papers in the oven on low heat for about 6-7 minutes. Some ovens work faster and some work slower but you can always know that your papers are done when they are completely dry.

DSC_0157.JPG and BAAAAAAAAAAM you have your old looking papers.

DSC_0158.JPGDSC_0160.JPG

Now if you’re going all out on this one, you might as well start burning parts of the paper. Please be careful while doing that, I’m sure firefighters wouldn’t be pleased with the fact that you burned the whole house down because you’re making “old faded papers”.

DSC_0159.JPG

So i wanted to darken a spot in the middle of the paper and i ended up burning the a large portion of this paper 😂 Just don’t do that and learn from my mistake.

FullSizeRender 25.jpg

And that’s the final result 📜 I hope that you guys enjoy that and if you ever make one of those papers just let me know because I’m dying to see how yours turn out!
